An interview on “Climate Change and Woman” was held with Nuran Talu, Senior Policy Advisor of IklimIN Project Climate Policies and President of Global Balance Association, on Monday, March 5, in Uğur Mumcu Culture and Art Centre within the framework of the March 8th Events within the scope of “Green Climate Green Municipality” carried out jointly by Green Thought Association and Bornova Municipality under “Grant Program of Capacity Development in the Field of Climate Change in Turkey”.
Having referred to the report Missing Component in Fight against Climate Change in Turkey: Woman, Nuran Talu mentioned the current global situation in climate change, the effects of climate change and the importance of gender factor in climate change. Talu said: “It is clear that the fight against climate change needs to be done with bottom-up approaches, not with top-down policies as usual with governments. From this point of view, women’s contribution to this fight will be inevitable. Women and men do not experience climate change in the same way, due to their role in society, they are affected by the consequences of climate change differently, and they affect policies to a different extent. Although these issues have occupied the world agenda for a long time, it is determined without the gender perspective of climate change and climate policies in Turkey unfortunately, and the climate/woman component being totally ignored in studies”.
“Grant Program of Capacity Development in the Field of Climate Change in Turkey” funded by the European Union and the Republic of Turkey, and of which contract authority is Central Finance and Contracting Unit, has been carried out by the Ministry of Environment and Urbanisation.
