Project Purpose :

The project aims to estimate the carbon stock and carbon balance of planted forests, to identify the origins of carbon balance fluctuations, to examine sustainable forest management practices to optimize carbon balance and counter-steer climate change impacts, to harmonize forest management policies and measures taken for Climate change mitigation in the EU regarding planted forests, to develop common framework to describe, assess and monitor carbon stock, emissions and removals of planted forests in line with the respective EU policies, to monitor forest parameters that can be used as indices of climate change impacts (species composition and surface area, biodiversity data if available, threats-epidemics)

 

Activities/ Outputs:

1. A report on best practices and policies will be prepared, a sampling plan, including and inventory sheet and map will be prepared.
2. A report will be written on the results of field sampling.
3. Common Protocol for the assessment of the impact of different forest management practices on climate change will be prepared.
4. Reports will be written on the scenarios analysis to assess the impact of different forest management practices on climate change.
