Workshop for Consultants of the Project “Social Capacity Building on Climate Change in Higher Education: Training Workshop on Perception Management, Awareness Raising and Resilience Building” was held on February 7, 2017.

The agenda of the workshop was the preparation of the regulation of the Sustainability Office Organization of Dokuz Eylül University, determination of the units related to the organization chart, discussion of the organization and content of the Climate Action Plan, and discussion of the objectives and strategies of the Sustainability Action Plan.

The workshop started with the opening speeches of Prof. Dr. Yasemin Arbak, Dean of Faculty of Business, and Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Banu Esra Aslanertik. Then, Prof. Dr. Sevinç Özkul, Manager of Department of Hydraulics of Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Engineering, made a presentation about IklimIN project and gave examples of “Sustainable Campus” practices in the world. Prof. Dr. Canan Madran, Head of the Department of International Business and Commerce of Dokuz Eylül University Faculty of Business continued with the presentation drawing attention on climate change and highlighting the results of climate change.

The first session of the workshop was chaired by Prof. Dr. Banu Esra Aslanertik. In the session, “Sustainability Office Regulation” was discussed. The second session was chaired by Prof. Dr. Banu Atrek, Prof. Dr. Okan Fıstıkoğlu and Prof. Dr. Sümeyra Duman, and the draft of the “Climate Action Plan” was discussed.
