The protocol of the project was signed between Edremit Municipality and Consumer Rights Association with a ceremony held in Edremit Municipality.

“Project on Consumer Awareness and Responsibility in Energy Use to Reduce CO2 Emissions in Cities” prepared by Edremit Municipality together with Consumer Rights Association has been entitled to be funded by the Central Finance and Contracting Unit of Prime Ministry Under secretarial of Treasury and the Ministry of Environment and Urbanisation.

The protocol of the project was signed between the municipality and the association with a ceremony held in Edremit Municipality. Musa Karaaslan, Deputy Mayor of Edremit, Mehmet Ertaş, Deputy Mayor, Turhan Çakar, Chairman of Consumer Rights Association and Project Coordinator Özkan Leblebici attended the signing ceremony.

The project, which has a budget of 55 thousand Euros, aims to change the power and energy consumption habits of the families in Edremit through the training to be provided, to reduce their carbon dioxide emissions, thus to make people in Edremit become more sensitive to the environment and protect the natural beauties of Edremit.

In his speech during the signing ceremony, Mehmet Ertaş, Deputy Mayor or Edremit stated that it is pleasing that the “Project on Consumer Awareness and Responsibility in Energy Use to Reduce CO2 Emissions in Cities” submitted by Edremit Municipality together with Consumer Rights Association has been entitled to be funded by the Central Finance and Contracting Unit of Prime Ministry Under secretarial of Treasury and the Ministry of Environment and Urbanisation.

He also added that: “The aim of our project, which will last for 15 months, is to raise awareness of domestic consumers about their energy use and to reduce consumption carbon dioxide emissions in our city by changing consumption habits through trainings to be provided.

Within the scope of the project, a mobile system that will provide lighting with solar energy will be purchased and the illumination of the activities organized at different points of Edremit will be ensured in an environmentally friendly manner.

In this project, which has a budget of 55.478 Euros, the application location is Edremit. By changing the power and energy consumption habits of the families in Edremit, we will enable them to reduce their carbon dioxide emissions. Thus, the people of Edremit will become more sensitive to the environment. In addition, our Edremit will have preserved its natural beauties.

Within the scope of the project, information and incentive trainings will be provided for the establishment of renewable energy cooperatives. We will support our people on the establishment of a renewable energy cooperative in Edremit after the roof-mounted solar energy generation system application on the roof of Güre market place.

As Edremit Municipality, we will fulfill our responsibilities regarding climate change and environment in the best way and continue to work towards contributing Turkey to produce clean energy with local resources without being foreign-dependent and to consume consciously.”
