The conference was held in Bonn, where the UN Climate Secretariat is located, as Fiji, the host of this year’s conference, does not have enough infrastructures for such an organization.
The conference focused on concrete steps to be taken to achieve the goals agreed in the Paris Agreement, which was signed by 197 countries. The Agreement, signed also by Turkey, aims to fight against the effects of global warming and climate change.
The Agreement aims to replace renewable energy with fossil fuels. The participating countries also discussed the steps to be taken to keep the global temperature rise below 2 degrees during the conference.
Turkey delegation in Bonn, made intensive studies during the conference in order to tell Turkey’s works on environment and sensitivity, and to represent our country.
In addition, Turkey also took place in the exhibition area where many countries and NGOs present their works and vision on climate change as it does every year.
Mehmet Özhaseki, the Minister of Environment and Urbanisation, unveiled the Turkey’s Exhibition and Booth Area. “We hereby declare that we exist as a country all over the world on every platform and that we will state a number of justified subjects, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our friends for their efforts,” said Özhaseki.
