The European Union Climate Action Week Event started in Ankara within the Ministry of Environment and Urbanisation and Head of EU Delegation to Turkey.
In the program organized with the slogan “Everyone Can Make a Difference” in Ankara Erimtan Archaeology and Art Museum on October 16, 2017, Mehmet Ceylan, Deputy Minister of Environment and Urbanisation, Head of EU Delegation to Turkey Ambassador Christian Berger, and Ambassador of Italy in Ankara Luigi Mattiolo made speeches.
Having mentioned the studies of Turkey for the prevention of climate change, Deputy Minister Ceylan said that dozens of conferences, symposiums and meetings were held inside and outside of Turkey to create environmental awareness, and Turkey supports similar works to create and raise awareness.
Head of EU Delegation to Turkey Ambassador Berger stated that Turkey and the European Union live in the same geographical area, share the same sea as neighbors, and said that it is possible to mitigate the effects of climate change with the joint efforts of Turkey and the European Union.
Ambassador of Italy in Ankara Luigi Mattiolo stated that climate change is one of Italy’s top priorities.
After the speeches, the exhibition “Confronting Climate Change” prepared with the contributions of the Swedish Embassy and “4 Projects for Development” prepared with the contributions of the Italian Embassy were opened. After the opening of the exhibition, trees were planted in the garden of Erimtan Museum.
Events will be held between October 16-27 in Istanbul, Izmir, Ankara and Erzurum in order to raise awareness about climate change and environmental protection.
Planting activities, nature walks, panels, seminars, film screenings and concerts are planned in this scope.
