16th Training Seminar on Climate Change organized within the scope of Enhancing Required Joint Efforts on Climate Action Project (İklimIN) was held in Istanbul between 21-23 October.
Representatives of relevant public institutions and organizations, development agencies, universities, NGOs and local administrations operating in Istanbul and nearby cities participated in the training.
During her representation to the reporter of Anatolian Agency (AA), Dr. Nuran Talu, Senior Policy Advisor of IklimIN Project told that such a comprehensive archive has been formed for the first time in Turkey. “We are going to cities and giving trainings within the scope of the project. We exchange ideas with NGOs, local stakeholders and universities. Thus, we create a roadmap on which issues we should prioritize in which city.” said Talu by stating that the fight against climate change should start locally.
“This is a benefit if you create a variety of drought-resistant crops in agriculture.
This also applies to the tourism sector. If we can see the picture, Turkey may determine its priorities very comfortably. What matters is that we are aware of our capacities. Because fighting against the climate does not only mean solving the environmental problems, but also evaluating this fight within the economic indicators, taking into consideration the concerns of the society,” said Talu by mentioning that benefits also should be told while discussing on climate change.
